The above classic which, despite the inclement weather, proved to be a huge success and the organisers would sincerely like to thank anyone who helped in any way. Intermediate and Minor Scratch Cups.
These two competitions will take place on the weekend of 12th/13th July. The Minor Scratch Cup is for players with a handicap of 19 and over and the Intermediate Scratch Cup is for players with a handicap of 12 to 18. The Minor Scratch Cup is kindly sponsored by Snowcream and the Intermediate Scratch Cup is kindly sponsored by Waterford Crystal.
Irish Junior Cup:
The Gold Coast take on near neighbours Dungarvan at Tramore Golf Club on Saturday 12th July at 11.15 a.m. We wish Brian O’Connor and his team all the best on the day.
Faithlegg defeat Gold Coast in Mixed Foursomes:
On Saturday last the Gold Coast played Faithlegg in the second round of the Irish Mixed Foursomes in Youghal. Having defeated the home club in the previous round the Gold Coast were in hopeful mood but despite a tremendous effort, Faithlegg were to prove too difficult a task and we congratulate them on a splendid victory. The Gold Coast were represented by John White, Violet Howard, Billy Power, Teresa Queally, Michael Kavanagh, Ann Scannell, Dave Scannell, Joan Virgo, Kieran Cullinan and Margaret Mulhearne. Michael Wall, In thanking everyone concerned, paid special tribute to Tom White and Teresa Queally for all the work they put into moulding this team and it was his wish and the wish of all present that the same two would be in charge again next year. Tom White thanked the players and caddies for all their efforts.
Friday evening Mixed Foursomes:
These competitions will resume on Friday 4th July at 6 p.m. This week it is the choice of the ladies to ask the gents.
New Open Single Figure Handicap Competitions:
Starting in West Waterford on 7th July and running on six different Mondays, this new competition will cater for players with handicaps from 0 to 9, no step downs allowed. It will rotate between the three local clubs, Dungarvan, West Waterford and Gold Coast. The following are the dates:
Monday 7th July: West Waterford
Monday 14th July: Dungarvan
Monday 21st July: Gold Coast.
Monday 28th July: West Waterford
Monday 18th August: Gold Coast
Monday 25th August: Dungarvan.
Entry fee: Members €7, Visitors €20.
There is a special prize of €100 for any player breaking a course record. Blue Tees will be in operation for all these competitions. Pre booking is essential.
Dungarvan Autumn Pairs:
This very popular competition will be held on Tues 23rd, Wed 24th, and Thurs 25th Sept 2008. It is getting more popular each year with entries steadily growing. It is open to Gents, Ladies, or Mixed teams and it is played over the three courses, Dungarvan, Gold Coast and West Waterford. The cost is entry and 3 rounds of golf is €93 or if you prefer to stay the cost is for 3 rounds of golf, entry and 2 B&B €179.
